Judge complexity in use
The method
Judge complexity in use
Count the effort users face in completing their task, not just the features.
When to use it
- Usability design for a multifunction product.
Ask yourself
- Does one more feature make the product bloated?
Put it into action
- Walk through entry, choices, submission, and feedback. Compare who gains convenience and who takes on extra work.
Keep these limits in mind
- Hidden functions still have learning and maintenance costs. Entry counts are not universal standards; a minimal product must still support the complete task.
