The method

Balance quality and delivery

Separate the release baseline from improvements that can follow.

When to use it

  • The pursuit of perfection is blocking delivery.

Ask yourself

  • Should we launch before everything is perfect?

Put it into action

  • List the experience and safety baseline for this release and the time needed for further improvement.
  • Compare waiting, a controlled launch and staged improvements; schedule a review.

Keep these limits in mind

  • Iteration is not a reason to lower safety, reliability or promised experience baselines.
  • A personal admission of excessive idealism does not prove that launching sooner always wins.
